    Description of Gossypium arboreum

Tree cotton is a bush achieving statures of one to two meters. Its branches are secured with pubescence and are purple in shading. Stipules are available at the leaf base and they are straight to lanceolate fit as a fiddle and now and then falcate (i.e. sickle-formed). The leaves are joined to the stem by a 1.5 to 10 cm petiole. The sharp edges are applaud to orbicular fit as a fiddle and have five to seven projections, making them externally look like a maple leaf. The projections are direct to lanceolate, and regularly a tooth is available in the sinus. Organs are available along the midrib or every so often on the nearby nerves. The leaves are glabrescent, which means the pubescence is lost with age, yet when it is available on youthful abandons, it is both stellate (i.e. star-formed) and simple.[2]

The blooms are determined to short pedicels (i.e. bloom stalks). An epicalyx is available, which is a progression of subtending bracts that look like sepals. Its expansive, praise portions are dentate (i.e. toothed along the edges), however now and then just somewhat so. They are cordate (i.e. heart-molded) at the base and intense at the zenith. The genuine calyx is little, measuring just around 5 millimeters (0.20 in) long. Its shape is cupular, and five inconspicuous dentations are available. The corolla is a light yellow on shading, here and there with a purple focus, and every so often altogether purple. It quantifies 3 to 4 centimeters (1.2 to 1.6 in) long. The staminal tube bears the anthers and is 1.5 to 2 cm long. The organic product is a three-or four-celled container measuring 1.5 to 2.5 centimeters (0.59 to 0.98 in) over. It is ovoid or elongated fit as a fiddle and glabrous (i.e. bare). The surface is hollowed and a mouth is available at the terminal end. The seeds inside are globular and are canvassed in long white cotton.[2]

Gossypium arboreum var. neglecta, privately known as "Phuti karpas", is the variation used to make Muslin in East India, now Bangladesh. The variety must be developed in a territory south of Dacca, along the banks of the Meghna River. It could be spun with the goal that individual strings could keep up elasticity at tallies higher than some other variation of cotton.[3]
