history of Iran cotton
In Iran (Persia), the historical backdrop of cotton goes back to the Achaemenid time (fifth century BC); be that as it may, there are few sources about the planting of cotton in pre-Islamic Iran. The planting of cotton was normal in Merv, Ray and Pars of Iran. In Persian artists' lyrics, particularly Ferdowsi's Shahname, there are references to cotton ("panbe" in Persian). Marco Polo (thirteenth century) alludes to the real results of Persia, including cotton. John Chardin, a French explorer of the seventeenth century who went to Safavid Persia, talked enthusiastically of the huge cotton homesteads of Persia.[13]
